A long-awaited number! Every year, the American magazine Vanity Fair devotes one of its issues to Hollywood. A few weeks before the 94th Academy Awards, Nicole Kidman posed for the magazine alongside her colleagues nominated in the best actor and best actress categories, such as Penelope Cruz, Idris Elba, Kristen Stewart, but also Andrew Garfield. On the cover, the actress nominated for her role in the film Being the Ricardos appears in a crop top and a mini skirt signed Miu Miu. If this set highlights the abs of the star, many Internet users have denounced the abuse of retouching present on this shot.
On social networks, many fans of the actress have thus pushed a rant. We can thus read: “Nicole has a great body, and that is not her body. This shape is not hers at all, why do they have to Photoshop?” ; “Why does a fifty-year-old woman have to look like a teenager to be on the cover of Vanity Fair?” ; “I wouldn’t have recognized her. That blanket is weird!” ; “She’s an accomplished actress who’s been nominated for an Oscar. Why is she dressed like a college girl? Not cool!” ; “If this issue is about all that’s wrong with Hollywood, then great”; but also: “Can we let women age, please? It’s not about controlling someone’s clothing choices, but alterations etc are ridiculous and ugly.”
Nicole Kidman is unrecognizable
Angry, a netizen pointed out how this cover did not highlight Nicole Kidman. She wrote: “On what planet does a mother, actress and accomplished woman wear this outfit? It completely distracts from her incredible talents, making her seem like someone desperate to be young, which she doesn’t. “has never, ever portrayed. It doesn’t look like an empowered woman making a bold choice, it looks tense and uncomfortable. Her incredible physique could have been showcased a million other ways. What a missed opportunity for a legend Hollywood.”
