The discovery of a new house of horror moves Texas. 16-year-old twins have managed to escape the home of their mother and her boyfriend after years of abuse. Handcuffed, bound and forced to drink their urine, they left their Houston home on Tuesday, October 18. In their flight, they managed to take their brothers and sisters with them before going to their neighbors to contact the police. Picked up by the police, the children explained that they had been locked in a room and forced to eat and drink their excrement and urine. “They told me that their mother kept them locked in the laundry room, naked, handcuffed at the ankles and the wrists”, explained a neighbor of the family, still in shock.
Louisiana State Police found their mother, Zaikiya Duncan, 40, and her boyfriend, Jova Terrell, 27, during a traffic stop in Baton Rouge hours later. They were imprisoned before being tried on two criminal counts. The twins have been hospitalized and are in the custody of Child Protective Services. At least five other siblings – Nicholas Menina, 7, Zayden Menina, 10, Jovion Menina, 12, Javier Menina, 12 and Jarod Menina, 14 – were rescued by police – while four others had been left with family members throughout Louisiana.
The mother already accused of abuse
Another child of the mother is still missing, police said in a statement. The children’s mother has a history of child abuse, according to court documents revealed by US media. A few months ago, one of the children was hospitalized with burns to his feet and genitals from hot water poured on him by his mother. Accused at the time of cruelty to children, she was able to recover their custody. The family had recently moved to Texas and the twins weren’t even sure of their address when the officers questioned them.
