The Obama family has just lost one of its members. Twelve years after welcoming little Bo, Michelle, Barack and their daughters must say goodbye to their dog. On her Instagram account, the former First Lady announced the sad news by sharing several photos of this black and white hairball who had accompanied them to the White House for four years. “This afternoon has been difficult for our family. We said goodbye to our best friend – our dog, Bo – after a battle with cancer,” began Michelle Obama, terribly sad after the death of her dog. She then recalled Bo’s life: “During the 2008 election campaign, we promised our daughters that we would have a puppy after the election.”
And if Michelle and Barack Obama adopted Bo to become “a companion for girls”, they loved this dog right away. “We had no idea what it would mean to all of us,” continued the ex-First Lady. “For over a decade, Bo was a constant and heartwarming presence in our lives.” Michelle Obama added that the animal “was there when the girls got back to school”, “when Barack and [she needed a break”, “when [they] flew in Air Force One”, “when tens of thousands of people flocked to the South Lawn for the Easter Egg Roll” and even during the Pope’s visit. Barack Obama’s wife paid tribute to Bo, who supported his couple when his daughters left home: “I will always be grateful that Bo and the girls got to spend so much time together at the end.”
Barack Obama: “Our family has lost a true friend”
“As a family, Bo will be dearly missed. But we are grateful that he lived such a joyful life full of hugs, search games and evenings lying on the couch,” Michelle Obama concluded, before asking Internet users to “hold their pets tight”. Like her, Barack Obama also paid a fine tribute to the dog who accompanied him during important events. “Today our family has lost a true friend and faithful companion, wrote the former President of the United States. For more than a decade, Bo was a constant and gentle presence in our lives – happy to see us. in our good days, our bad days, and every day in between. ” After Bo’s death, the Obamas will be able to console themselves with their second dog, Sunny, who joined their family in 2013.
