Meghan Markle’s children’s book wouldn’t just refer to Archie and Prince Harry. Indeed, the Duchess of Sussex would also have mentioned Lilibet, her daughter, born last Friday. This is a touching reference the Duchess is said to have addressed to her little girl. In the last illustration of the book In The Bench, we clearly see a man with red hair. He is busy feeding the chickens with a boy’s game. At the same time, we see a dark-haired woman standing in a garden cradling a baby. We clearly see a nod to Lili.
This scene painted by the former actress appears to be influenced by the couple’s life in Southern California. In the same illustration, we also see two dogs. Remember that the Sussexes have two dogs, a black Labrador and a beagle. As for the first illustration in the book, Prince Harry’s wife shows the bearded, red-haired father cradling a baby sitting on a bench under a tree.
“The Duchess of Sussex’s Second Post”
This children’s book is Meghan Markle’s second publication. Remember that she had already participated in the book Together. This is a cookbook with never-before-seen recipes from women of the Grenfell Tower. In addition to winking at her daughter, the Duchess’ book greatly relates the life of a Sussex couple. It also pays homage to classics like the popular 1964 children’s book, The Giving Tree, written by author Shel Silverstein.
Each illustration in the book necessarily makes the connection with the relationship between parents and children. One of the best examples being this black father sleeping on a bench holding his son in his arms. “From here you will rest, you will see the growth of our boy”, we can see as texts on the image.
