Meghan Markle: she writes a children’s book inspired by Harry and Archie called “The Bench”

It’s official, the Duchess of Sussex has announced that she has written a children’s book which will be illustrated with photos of a red-haired soldier. Entitled The Bench, the book was inspired by a poem she wrote to her companion on Father’s Day and will retail for £ 12.99 ($ 18.99). Prince Harry’s wife has announced that the book will be released simultaneously in the UK as well as in the US. A work which explores “the special bond between a father and his son seen through the eyes of a mother” according to him.

It is the successful artist Christian Robinson who will be responsible for the illustration of this book which will be published on June 8 by Random House Children’s Books. Meghan Markle shared in a press release that the book will feature a diverse group of fathers and sons. It also offers an audiobook for $ 4.99.

“The gains promise”

Both the audio version and the hardcover version of the book could earn the Duchess of Sussex millions of dollars. Moreover, it has not yet been determined if the Duchess had received an advance for the book or if she intends to donate part of the proceeds to a charity. Popular culture expert Nick Ede told FEMAIL that the Duchess would likely have received an advance of between £ 250,000 and £ 500,000 for writing this book.

While the press release describes Meghan Markle as a “mother, wife, feminist and activist,” reactions to this news are not all positive. Indeed, royal commentators point to the hypocrisy of writing about fatherhood as Meghan Markle remains estranged from her father.
