It is a chilling testimony that was reported by the Daily Mail on December 24. According to the words of the British newspaper, Samantha Markle, the half-sister of the Duchess of Sussex contacted the police services of Lakeland, where their home is located, for facts of domestic violence on the part of her husband. She explained that her husband, Mark Philips, assaulted her in the middle of the night on December 14. The 56-year-old’s account indicates that she asked her husband for help to get to the bathroom. Indeed, suffering from multiple sclerosis since 2008, it is contrary to move in a wheelchair and requires special attention to perform many actions. So that’s when her husband hit her, “in the ear, on the right side of her face,” she explained. The authorities, contacted around 1 am, noted that the main suspect had then left the scene before their arrival. Deemed to be the “main perpetrator”, he was arrested a few minutes later and taken to Polk County jail where he was indicted for domestic violence. He was released pending trial.
If this testimony is overwhelming, however, this is not the first time that Meghan Markle’s brother-in-law has had trouble with the justice system and the police. In fact, before moving to Florida with his wife in 2016, the couple lived in New Mexico. A period which was not easy since Mark Philips encountered many problems with the justice and the police. As reported by Mail Online, several incidents involving him and dating back to 2015 can be mentioned. The police had been alerted several times to physical violence from the Duchess’s brother-in-law. Recorded, one of the calls had been studied with attention since it concerned a physical assault on Scott Rasmussen, the ex-husband of his wife with whom he had differences. Thus, he had a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching him. Meghan Markle, who has cut ties with her family for a long time, did not speak about the words of her half-sister.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, a happy couple
If nothing goes for Samantha Markle, it looks like her stepsister and her husband are spinning the perfect love. The couple unveiled the first episode of their podcast titled Archewell Audio on December 29. Produced in partnership with Spotify, they promised to “tell stories of hope and compassion with inspiring guests.” For this first audio, they could count on the presence of Elton John, James Corden or Tyler Perry. What struck the spirits, however, is the adorable anecdote about their wedding, celebrated on May 19, 2018 in Windsor. For this union, they had decided to use the song This Little Light of Mine. A song that means a lot to them. “This is the music that we wanted to hear when we started our life together. Because as we all know, ‘the dark cannot drive out the dark, only light can,” said Meghan Markle. It would therefore seem that this is a philosophy of life for the couple whose happiness is dazzling.
