The Sussexes and the British people are not what they used to be. Since the announcement of the official departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the British monarchy, the popularity of the once affectionate couple of the English has continued to decline. According to a YouGov poll published in early September on Twitter, only 34% of Britons have a positive opinion of the Duke of Sussex, and only 26% are in favor of his wife. In just 5 months, the popularity of the 36-year-old prince has declined by 9 points, against 3 points for Meghan Markle.
And the British people have no qualms about expressing their disapproval of the Sussex spouses. This Thursday, September 9, the O2 Arena in London hosted the 26th National Television Awards, an event rewarding the best programs broadcast on British television. On this occasion, the organizers broadcast an excerpt from Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, the interview event broadcast on March 7 in the United States. During this now unavoidable interview, Harry and Meghan openly denigrated the monarchy, accusing the Firm and the royal family of racism against their first son, Archie. And the least we can say is that the English did not appreciate this little customer. Although the sequence was not broadcast on television since it was cut during the editing, several witnesses say that the audience would have booed the couple when they appeared on the screen.
“It was as if they were the villains of a pantomine”
“Meghan and Harry came onscreen in a montage of the best television moments of the past twelve months. Immediately, boos were expected across the arena. It was like they were the baddies of a pantomine “, revealed one of the spectators present in the room in the columns of MailOnline. “When Meghan appeared there were boos from the audience,” confirmed a celebrity wishing to remain anonymous. “Some screamed, others laughed. Some faces fell apart in embarrassment, but Meghan was obviously not very popular that night.” Let the Sussexes be reassured, the sequence was not shown on the screen. As announced above, ITV Live made sure the boos didn’t appear on UK TV. Phew!
