Could the world’s most famous disappearance case be resolved? For the past few days, a 21-year-old German girl convinced to be little Maddie McCann, who disappeared on May 3, 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal, has been talking about her on social networks. “Help me, I need to talk to Kate and Gerry McCann. I think I could be Madeleine. I need a DNA test,” reads the bio of her Instagram account, @iammadeleinemccann. .
In a live Instagram widely relayed on TikTok, the young girl recounts having had the intuition of being linked to the McCann affair during a conversation with her grandmother. “A few months ago, my grandmother told me that my family knew that I had been injured by a pedophile,” she confides in imperfect English. She says she does not have many memories of her childhood and claims that one of the suspects listed on the official findmadeleine.com site resembles the person who sexually assaulted her when she was young.

A similar mark in the eye
And that’s not all. In several Instagram posts, the girl points out some physical similarities between herself and little Maddie. She has indeed identical moles on her face and thigh, but also has a mark erased in the right eye, at the exact place where that of the little Briton was missing. “I hope someone can help me, she says on video. Even if I’m not the real Madeleine, I hope the police will check. I can’t be 100% sure without a DNA test.”
Residing in Poland, the young girl explains that she came into contact with the British and Polish authorities but was not taken seriously. That’s why she decided to make herself known on the Web. For the time being, the investigators in charge of the case of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have not reacted.
