This American couple surely had the chance of a lifetime. Out in a restaurant where they are regulars, the husband came across a treasure that could be worth up to 100,000 dollars. At the end of February, the couple went out to enjoy seafood at a famous restaurant in New Jersey. Michael Spressler, 58, and his wife Maria often stop at The Lobster House restaurant in Jersey Shore for clams. The 50-year-old told NJ Avdvance Media on Monday, Feb. 28, that he and his wife have been patrons of the restaurant since the 1980s.
“In all the years we’ve been there, as soon as we exit the Garden State Parkway and cross the bridge, our first stop was the Lobster House to eat, because to me they have the best fruit in Jersey sea,” he said. By biting into a clam, Michael Spressler almost broke a tooth. By spitting out what he thought was a piece of molar, he discovers that it is a pearl. “I thought one of my molars had broken,” he said. “But when I took it out in the palm of my hand, it was a perfectly round white pearl,” he says.
The value of the pearl is estimated between 50,000 and 100,000 dollars
Brick native Michael Spressler explains that he believed what he spat out was a small rock. But it turns out to be a pearl that can be worth between $50,000 and $100,000 according to The Pearl Source website. The price of the pearl depends on the body of water where the clam comes from. Maria Spressler, Mr. Spressler’s wife said she would like to keep the white pearl which is perfectly round and measures 8.83 millimeters in diameter. She plans to have it set in a ring or a necklace.
