His story left no one indifferent… Victim of harassment and homophobia, Lucas, a schoolboy educated in Golbey in the Vosges, committed suicide on Saturday January 7, 2023. As reported by Le Parisien, the prosecutor of the Republic of Epinal Frédéric Nahon indicated that a trial would indeed take place and that four college students will be tried for harassment. “During their hearings, the respondents, two girls and two boys aged 13, educated in the same establishment as Lucas, only admitted to having repeatedly made fun of their comrade”, a- he declared.
Frédéric Nahon later said: “The facts took place from September 2022 to the beginning of January 2023. At the end of their police custody, the four minors were summoned before the juvenile court of ‘Épinal to be tried there for school harassment which led to the suicide of the victim, the investigation having established that the harassment could have participated in the passage to the suicidal act of the young Lucas. The prosecutor of the Republic of Épinal however specified: “Presumed innocent, unknown to justice, the four minors will be the subject of an evaluation by the judicial protection of youth before their judgment.”

Frédéric Nahon: “Lucas had left a note in his diary”
Friday January 13, 2023, during a press conference, Frédéric Nahon had already spoken. “The purpose of our investigation is to confirm the reality of the acts of harassment, their duration, as well as the exact content of the remarks and behavior denounced. Lucas had left a note in his diary explaining his desire to end his life. (…) But it does not refer to harassment“, he had indicated. While Lucas was harassed because of his homosexuality, a relative had confided to the microphone of RMC: “He was harassed regularly in relation to his outfit, his way of being, what he gave off. He was whole so he did not didn’t hide. Maybe that bothered some people who didn’t dare to be as wholesome as he was.” He had regretted: “When he came home from school, he complained about what he was going through again and again. His mother called for help several times. The school environment, where he spent three-quarters of his time, did not react as it should.”
