It was in Madrid, at the headquarters of the Spanish Red Cross, that King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain visited this March 23, 2022. A visit made by royalty to the crisis unit in place for Ukrainians arrived in Spain. Note that this unit set up a few weeks ago is managed by the Red Cross. The objective of this cell is to respond to the conflicts in Ukraine. The role of the cell is to “coordinate the assistance operation launched by the Red Cross in favor of Ukrainians arriving in Spain”, according to Histoires Royales. This cell is made up of nearly 30 people. It is a group encompassing all the important sectors of activity such as health, relief or even the social side.

King Felipe VI of Spain, 54, and Queen Letizia of Spain, 49, went to the headquarters of the Red Cross to discuss the mission and the functioning of this cell. Many personalities joined the sovereigns of Spain during this visit. The list includes the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, as well as the Mayor of Madrid and, of course, the President of the Red Cross in Spain.

During this visit, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were able to see the Operations Center room. The parents of Princess Leonor, 16, and Infanta Sofia, 14, notably received colorful explanations of the situation in the Ukrainian zone. After which, the sovereigns took part in a meeting.

The president of the Red Cross, of course, addressed a word of welcome to the royal couple. He then presented all the stakeholders before highlighting the functioning of this crisis unit. Moreover, he took the opportunity to explain the operation in progress. The meeting allowed King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain to learn more about the partnership between the Spanish Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations.
