The recycling queen has struck again! This Friday, May 7, seeing Letizia arrive from Spain, attentive observers immediately had their eyes drawn to her outfit. Not because she was particularly amazing, but because the dress she put on has special symbolism for the Spanish Crown. Ahead of the weekend, Felipe’s wife traveled to the town of Colmenar Viejo where an Army Air Mobile Forces base is located to preside over a ceremony for the presentation of the national flag at the Academy of the aviation of the army. For the occasion, Letizia from Spain had bet on a tweet coat dress, created by Felipe Varela, one of her favorite styles. This piece has a lapel collar, long sleeves and a pencil cut that ends just above the knee.
And if this dress is special for the Spanish queen, it is because she is already several years old and above all because she has already put it on during an event very different from this one: the baptism of her daughter. Leonor, in 2006. Fifteen years ago, on January 14, 2006, those who were then prince and princess of Asturias baptized their firstborn in the palace of Zarzuela with water coming from the Jordan. On this special occasion, the royal family almost fully gathered and Letizia of Spain made a splash in this white outfit embroidered with gold threads. That day, she had combined this dress with dangling diamond and Australian pearl earrings and Manolo Blahnik pumps with rounded ends lined with champagne satin.
Letizia of Spain: a royal fashionista
Fifteen years later, Letizia from Spain replaced these accessories with others more in tune with the current situation, a two-tone handbag by Carolina Herrera and camel stiletto heels by Magrit. Queen of recycling therefore, but also queen of low-cost looks. A few days ago, during the commemoration ceremony of the Red Cross day, it was on a Zara floral print dress that she had set her sights. An outfit that she had taken out of her wardrobe, because she had already worn it during an official outing last year. Two days earlier, it was in a rock’n’roll look that she caused a sensation for an evening at the opera. She wore a black leather jacket, matched with cigarette pants of the same shade, as well as a pair of ballerina shoes. Only her top, pale pink, injected a little color into this look.
