On September 10, 2021, India Hicks married the man of her life, David Flint Wood. A decision taken by the couple after 26 years together. Note that the couple already has 5 children, Felix, Amory, Conrad, Domino and Wesley. The unconventional wedding took place in India Hicks’ home village, Brightwell Baldwin, in the southwest of England. First strange fact of this marriage: the absence of Prince Charles who is nevertheless the godfather of the bride.
India Hicks is best known for being one of Lady Di’s bridesmaids when she married in 1981. In her life, she has also been a Ex-model, author, designer and above all, an entrepreneur. Her mother, Lady Pamela Hicks, was also the bridesmaid at Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding. Pamela Hicks was the youngest daughter of 1st Earl Mountbatten. It is in the pages of British Vogue that the bride recounted her wedding with supporting photos.
“David asked me to marry him 25 years ago”
The couple, Flint Wood and Hicks, decided to take the plunge to celebrate an event after the health crisis. “David asked me to marry him 25 years ago when I found out I was pregnant with our son, Felix. But being in my phase of a fiercely independent woman, I never accepted,” had explained India Hicks. The family have lived on a small island in the Bahamas for 20 years, but decide to return to the matriarch’s home village for the ceremony. “We decided that our marriage should instead be very conventional,” Hicks adds.
In addition, the celebratory dinner was made the day before the wedding. “To make sure everyone would be relaxed at church the next day. Not just from the slight hangover, but also from the camaraderie of dancing in a field the night before,” says India Hicks.
