This is a rumor that has been silenced for several decades. When she was a teenager, Natalie Wood’s only dream was to become a Hollywood star. While filming The Searchers, during the summer of 1955, she would have had the opportunity to meet Kirk Douglas to advance her young career. An interview organized by his mother, Maria Zakharenko. The meeting would then have taken place in the hotel room of the father of Michael Douglas. Unfortunately, and as Lana Wood now asserts, she was allegedly the victim of a violent sexual assault. In her book Little Sister – to be published during the week of Monday, November 8, 2021 – she now accuses the sacred American monster of having abused the actress who was only 16 years old at the time of the alleged facts.
Lana Wood recalls being asleep in her mother’s car when her older sister joined them after her interview with Kirk Douglas. “She looked awful. She was very disheveled and very upset, and they started whispering to each other urgently,” wrote Natalie Wood’s sister in excerpts from her work revealed by British tabloid The Mirror on Thursday 4 November. “I couldn’t really hear them or understand what they were saying. Something bad had apparently happened to my sister, but anyway, I was apparently too young to know about it.” The author was still only an 8-year-old child.
Natalie Wood dead in troubled circumstances
It wasn’t until November 1981, when Natalie Wood was 43, that Lana Wood would have learned what really happened. “He hurt me, Lana,” the actress would have slipped. Years of broken silence but Lana Wood has been ordered into solitary confinement fearing that such an accusation could ruin the career of the principal concerned. A few days later, on November 29, 1981, Natalie Wood was found drowned in California, after a stay on a yacht in the company of Christopher Walken – with whom the press then lent her an affair – and her husband, Robert Wagner.
The latter is also, since 2018, considered a person of interest in the investigation around his death. Because the circumstances of his death remain murky to this day. If the rumor circulated in the world of American seventh art, it was mentioned publicly when Kirk Douglas breathed his last at the age of 103, on February 5, 2020. What convince Lana Wood to extricate herself from a long silence.
