Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, 40, is an avid reader. Moreover, the wife of Prince William, 39, willingly shares certain books from her childhood with her children. On Royal Reading Room, the Duchess of Cambridge left herself to some secrets about her childhood. Confidences follow a few book recommendations the Duchess of Cambridge has read over the years on World Book Day. “Regular reading can have a profound impact on children’s well-being, literacy and understanding,” according to Royal Reading Room.
The first book Prince William’s wife recommended was ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson. “I loved this book as a little girl and hearing my own children read it brought back so many wonderful memories,” said Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. This book is about a heartwarming story that would help children face their fears, according to the Duchess. The other book recommended by the mother of Prince George, 8, Prince Louis, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 6, is ‘Stig Of The Dump’, by Clive King. “As a child, I loved spending time outdoors, making dens, digging, discovering and making objects out of anything and everything,” says mother-of-three Kate Middleton. “I don’t know if that’s why my father recommended this book to me or if this book inspired my imagination, but I never forgot this brilliant book and the values it teaches,” added the wife of Prince William. Note that this book is about little Barney and his friend Stig and their series of adventures.
