Kate Middleton indulged in some confidences during a visit to her old school, St Andrew’s in Berkshire. She notably shared the adorable nickname given to her at school. A nickname she then passed on to her pet, a guinea pig. The great title of Duchess of Cambridge therefore gave way to a nickname well known to all at the time. During this visit, Kate told some children that her nickname at school was “Squeak”.
Recall that Kate Middleton attended St Andrew’s School in Pangbourne, Berkshire, from 1986 to 1995. Her sister Pippa also attended this school. During the school visit in 2012, the Duchess of Cambridge took the time to chat with some of the children. She notably spoke about her pets and confessed to them that she had 2 guinea pigs. “There was one called Pip and another called Squeak because my sister was called Pippa and I was Squeak,” she said.
“Prince William also had a nickname”
Kate Middleton isn’t the only member of the royal family to have had a nickname at school. Besides, her husband Prince William also had a nickname during his student years at St Andrews University. The crown prince had mostly used a nickname to go under the radar. His nickname was “Steve”.
Prince William was indeed enrolled in the university under his official name, William Wales. Only his friends used this nickname in order to avoid attracting attention.
