As the Queen of England celebrates her 70th anniversary this year, Kate Middleton and Prince William traveled to the Caribbean to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries. After spending 3 days in Belize, the couple landed in Jamaica on Tuesday. Always elegant, Kate Middleton wore a dress with horizontal stripes, tinted with turquoise shades that were reminiscent of the color of the water in the Caribbean. To complete this piece by Willow Hilson worth £369 (around €443), the Duchess of Cambridge opted for a pair of beige low-heeled shoes and a bracelet on her right wrist, which we owe to Jamaican designer Lashawndla Bailey-Miller. The couple traveled to the town of Trench Town, the birthplace of Reggae music, before engaging in various activities with the locals. Photo session in a bobsleigh with the Jamaican team, football match, percussion session under the flashes… Kate and William have been busy.

Kate Middleton and Prince William don’t just have fans in Jamaica

Despite this apparent conviviality, several Protestants demonstrated in front of the British High Commission in Kingston for the independence of Jamaica. “Kings, queens, princesses and princes belong in fairy tales, not Jamaica!” read one of the signs. Aware of the protests, Prince William is expected to discuss this rise in anti-colonial sentiment at the dinner hosted by the Governor General of Jamaica on Wednesday evening.
