A study by betting specialists SportsPub, who analyzed data from Google Trends, revealed which were the most popular outfits of the year for members of the Royal Family. And it’s Kate Middleton who takes first place with the dress she wore at the James Bond No Time To Die premiere on September 28, 2021.
Indeed, during this outing with Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a long dress with a golden cape, adorned with pearls and sequins. Signed by British designer Jenny Packham, it has established itself widely in the rankings with a search volume of 1328% above the average annual search volume for royal outfits.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle dominate the ranking of the most popular outfits.
The mother of George, Charlotte and Louis dominated the standings with three dresses in the top 5: the one from the James Bond preview, the one she wore in the women’s singles final at Wimbledon on the 10th July 2021, as well as the one to celebrate his wedding anniversary with Prince William last April.
For her part, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle is also in the ranking. She takes second place with the long floral Giorgio Armani dress that she wore during her shock interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. She is also in fifth place in the ranking with her Carolina Herrera dress, worn at the Salute to Freedom gala in November 2021.
According to a spokesperson for SportsPub, it would appear that Kate Middleton “relies on simple, assertive elements that can stand the test of time, confirming her status as a style icon” while on the other hand observes “Meghan’s influence in the fashion industry, with very few public appearances this year still creating a major impact based on the pieces she wears.” Affirmations that correspond well to the personalities of the two women.
