It was a much anticipated royal tour. In recent days, Prince William and Kate Middleton boarded the Royal Train for the very first time. A real honor for the Cambridges, who have crisscrossed Great Britain on board with a specific goal: to pay tribute to British caregivers, who have been mobilized for months against the coronavirus epidemic. During these three days of visit, Kate Middleton once again honored the creators of the United Kingdom by multiplying the looks of the season. And through her accessories, the Duchess of Cambridge also wanted to honor Queen Elizabeth II. To close their Royal Train Tour, Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at Windsor Castle to meet Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Countess Sophie and the Earl of Wessex, Princess Anne and, of course, Queen Elizabeth II this Tuesday, December 8.
For this family photoshoot, the Duchess wore a chic emerald green wool coat with a Catherine Walker & Co signature fur collar, matching gloves and black suede boots. In her ears, the mother of George, Charlotte and Louis had hung a pair of diamond earrings that belonged to Her Majesty, as the journalist Rebecca English noted. A nice attention from the one who will succeed him one day. And this is really not the first time that Kate Middleton has greeted Elizabeth II with her accessories. Already during the baptism of Prince Louis, the Duchess had drawn special earrings from her jewelry box. For the first appearance of her youngest, she had indeed worn accessories lent for the occasion by the grandmother of her husband.
A special Christmas
Kate Middleton already wore the same diamond earrings at a special reception at Buckingham Palace in December 2016. According to The Express, the British Queen wore these teardrop-shaped accessories for the first time, which feature a line of four diamonds framed by a group of round diamonds, during the official opening of Parliament in 2012. Prince William’s wife also borrowed them for a NATO reception at Buckingham Palace in 2019. This Wednesday 8 December, the royal family happily took advantage of this first meeting since the start of the pandemic. Especially since its members are still in the dark regarding the end of year celebrations, that Elizabeth II will spend for the first time in Windsor. Kate Middleton and Prince William do not yet know where they are going to celebrate Christmas. “It is difficult to know which solution is the best to take”, regretted Prince William.
