Crown Assets, Kate Middleton and Prince William take their roles as representatives of the monarchy seriously. So much so that Buckingham decided to give them a mission of the utmost importance. While an independentist wave sweeps over Scotland and threatens the union of Great Britain, as specified by the British tabloid The Mirror this Sunday, June 6 (which quotes the newspaper The Sunday Times), the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge plan to spend more time at Balmoral Castle, the Scottish refuge of the Windsor, in an effort to save the cohesion of the United Kingdom. These new frequent trips will also allow the spouses to reconnect with St Andrews University, where their first meeting took place.
Indeed, more recovered than ever following Brexit, Scotland is claiming its independence and is gradually dissociating itself from England. According to a source close to the British royal family, members of the Firm “believe the politicians have lost Scotland to them.” It must be said that, during his recent trip, Prince William multiplied his statements to the Scots, trusting his strong link with the country by confiding in particular on the trauma caused by the death of his mother Lady Diana. Kate Middleton, equally attached to Scotland, joined him a few days after his arrival.
Prince William had a secret meeting with a former prime minister
While in Holyrood, Prince William even arrested many journalists from across the Channel when he spoke with Gordon Brown behind closed doors. The Lord High Commissioner and former British Prime Minister did not reveal the reasons for this discreet discussion. And if this remains unclear – although Gordon Brown has already been critical of Brexit – the reason for Prince William’s meeting with Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon also feeds the mystery. If he cannot do the same with his younger brother, with whom he has been at odds for several months, the Earl of Strathearn could well be a mediating force between Scotland and England.
