The Royal Variety Performance was broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 19 December. Prince William would have crossed his fingers during this event hosted by comedians. “William was clearly worried that something would be said on stage after the difficult year for the Royal Family,” says The Mirror. The Duke of Cambridge feared that the comedians would make fun of the stories of Meghan and Harry. At the event, mention was also made of Prince Andrew’s ongoing trial.
“The Duke was happy to escape the event, which took place last month but aired tonight without being teased,” said comedian Josh Widdicombe. The Queen’s grandson even told the comedian he was relieved he hadn’t been the butt of the jokes. “William mentioned that he was glad I didn’t gags on him, I was worried because I mentioned him at the start,” Josh Widdicombe told Hello magazine. While William was a bit apprehensive about what could have happened, he and his wife clearly enjoyed this glamorous evening.

The expert sees the prince’s facial expressions and gestures as signs of excitement and enthusiasm. “There is an undeniable sparkle in William’s eyes that suggests an air of anticipation and excitement,” she said. “His gesture of rubbing his hands as he walks towards the theater is a signal of enthusiasm,” she continues. During this event, Kate looked especially radiant in her green sequined Jenny Packham dress. William opted for a chic navy blue velvet jacket.
