Recently, the British royal family decided to boycott the BBC. This is because of a very controversial documentary about the warring princes. A situation which is not ready to be resolved, especially with the allegations of Amol Rajan, journalist for the BBC and presenter of the documentary. Moreover, this same Amol Rajan described the public role of Kate and William as being a total fraud. He also called Prince Philip a “racist jester”.
Remember that this is not the first time that Rajan has made inflammatory remarks against the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Recall that in 2012, he had already done the same in articles in The Independent. This is a journal that he previously kept and edited. It was in an open letter to Kate and William that he urged the Cambridges to “renounce the luxuries of royal patronage and aristocracy”. He said, among other things, that everyone would be a winner if they did. While congratulating the couple on the announcement of their first pregnancy at the time, he did not fail to describe their public role as “total fraud”. “None of you has any special status: None of you has any special right over the glorious city of Cambridge, so stop claiming it,” he also added.
In the same newspaper, the journalist had also declared that Prince Philip was a “racist jester” and that Prince Charles was as “scientifically illiterate”.
Documentary suffers unprecedented censorship
The documentary The Princes and the Press will be presented in 2 parts. It has been heavily censored by Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Kensington Palace. Moreover, this documentary is also accused of bias. The royal family say it would contain unfounded and inaccurate accusations of collusion with the media. Which would be all the more true vis-à-vis the information concerning the Sussexes.
Many criticisms have been made. Criticism which is all the more vivid because of photos taken of Rajan at a cocktail party with many of Meghan Markle’s associates including one of her closest friends, Misha Nonoo.
