It is an evening that William will remember for a long time. According to many sources, he and his wife Kate Middleton were invited by Tom Cruise to view the sequel to the film Top Gun, in which the American star is the main actor. The latter would have invited the royal couple for a special screening of the preview of Top Gun: Maverick at the Leicester Square cinema in London. Officially, the new Tom Cruise film will be released in theaters on May 27.

The sequel to the original Top Gun, released in 1986 and of which William was an absolute fan, followed the adventures of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a young American pilot in training with the Navy. The 59-year-old actor organized this beautiful event after learning that the Duke of Cambridge was an unconditional fan of one of his flagship films. Other members of the royal family were also invited, such as Sophie Wessex and her children, Princesses Eugenie and Béatrice.

Kate and William had a wonderful evening thanks to Tom Cruise

While he served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force, Prince William seemed delighted by the invitation. “It was a great preview. Kate and William happily accepted Tom Cruise’s offer. The rest of the cinema was closed to ensure their safety and greater privacy. Tom greeted them saying that he hoped they would have as much fun watching the movie as he did shooting it,” a source close to the royal couple said. Before its theatrical release, the film will also be screened at the next Cannes Film Festival.
