A new stage opens in the defamation lawsuit between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, Amber Heard. After having delivered her version of the facts at the beginning of the month, the actress accused of having undermined the consideration of her ex-husband was confronted, this Monday, May 16, 2022, with the cross-examination of the lawyers of Johnny Depp. For 90 minutes, Camille Vasquez presented elements aimed at discrediting the testimony of Amber Heard in the eyes of the jury. She notably put forward several photos, arguing that on certain occasions, the 36-year-old actress did not bear the marks of the blows she denounces.
During questioning, Amber Heard claimed that in March 2013, Johnny Depp punched her “so many times” in the face that she had “lost count”. A version that the actor’s lawyer contradicts, with a photo taken by Amber Heard shortly after the said incident. In the photo, the actress appears in profile. A bruise is clearly visible on his arm, but none on his face. “There is no wound on your face in this photo, is there?”, remarked Camille Vasquez.
“You don’t seem to have a nose injury in these photos, do you?”
The actor’s lawyer also looked into an incident dating back to May 2014, just after the MET Gala. At the helm, Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of hitting her so hard she thought she “had her nose broken”. To discredit this version, Camille Vasquez presented to the jury photos taken the day after the Met Gala. “You don’t seem to have a nose injury in these photos, do you?” asked the magistrate. “I wear makeup,” defended the actress. “Does the makeup cover the swelling?” asked Vasquez. “Ice reduces swelling,” Amber Heard replied.
