It is in the Los Angeles Times that Courteney Cox, swung the information. For 10 years, the three main actresses of Friends ate exactly the same thing, every lunchtime. Jennifer Anniston, who lent her features to Rachel Green, Lisa Kudrow who played the bubbly Phoebe Buffay and Courteney Cox who played the maniac Monica Geller all three had a favorite dish on the set: the Cobb salad, or simply salad Cobb. Very popular across the Atlantic, this salad consists of tomatoes, lettuce, grilled bacon, chicken fillet, hard-boiled egg, avocado, chives, Roquefort and red wine vinaigrette. An American classic as popular, if not more so, than their famous Caesar salad (which consists of lettuce, a hard-boiled egg, croutons, parmesan and Caesar sauce).
“Jennifer, Lisa and I had lunch together every day for 10 years. And we always ate the same thing: a Cobb salad” explained Courteney Cox. What a change from the meal of the six Friends on the screen, made of pizzas, Chinese food and good little dishes from Monica. Yet despite this more than repetitive meal over the years, one of the three actresses managed to add her little personal touch to break the routine a bit. Indeed Jennifer Aniston herself added a few ingredients to the famous salad. “She was rigging it with turkey bacon, chickpeas and whatever” according to Courteney Cox. Enough to make a recipe a bit more original, even if the base remains the same. And precisely, although the base was the same for Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox, one of the actresses had a very different feeling on the set of Friends.
Lisa Kudrow: ‘I felt huge next to them’
Lisa Kudrow has suffered a lot from constantly playing and comparing herself to her co-stars who are thinner than her, as she explained on the WTF podcast. “You see yourself on TV and you’re like, ‘Oh my god, I look like a mountain’. I’m taller and bigger than them. Bigger, because my bones are bigger than theirs. I I felt huge next to them. Unfortunately for women, we’re considered beautiful when we’re underweight. And that’s what happened to me. When I was too thin , I was sick all the time. Colds, sinus infections, flu… It was a real struggle…”. What encourage to fight, again and again, against the dictates imposed on women on their appearance.
