On February 10, Matthew Perry, star of the American sitcom Friends, announced the forthcoming publication of his memoirs. “Many things have been written about me in the past. I thought it was time people heard my version, he wrote on his Instagram account. The highs were very high, the lows were very low, but I’ve lived long enough to tell my story, even though I sometimes thought I wouldn’t. It’s all in there.” In his book, titled Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing (Amis, Amants et la Chose Terrible), Perry will go backstage in particular on his experience in Friends, at the time when he suffered from a serious addiction to drugs and alcohol.
If many fans are delighted with the idea of finally discovering the version of their idol, a future reader does not share the general enthusiasm: Jennifer Aniston. According to Closer Magazine, the interpreter of Rachel Green would be very upset by the upcoming publication of Perry’s work. She would indeed fear that by recounting the Friends era, Chandler’s interpreter would take the opportunity to evoke her failed marriage with Brad Pitt: “He did not say that the book would include private details about anyone. else, but Jen knows that Matthew wants a bestseller and for that, he will have to expose as many juicy secrets as possible, said a close friend of the actress to the British editorial staff of Closer. one of the most famous breakups in history, he knows everyone wants information about it.”
“She knows that they haven’t spoken much in the last few years, and that their bond has dissipated”
As a reminder, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston met in 1998 and formed a couple for 7 years. They married on July 29, 2000 and divorced in October 2005, after Pitt fell in love with Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith. At the time, the romance of the two actors had made the front page of all the tabloids, but Aniston and Pitt have always remained very discreet about the underside of their breakup. According to the source, the actress’ concern would be “justified” given everything Matthew Perry knows about his history with Pitt. Nevertheless, her team would have tried to reassure her. “She knows they haven’t spoken much in the past few years, and their bond has faded, but Matthew would never betray her.”
Time will tell. Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing is expected in bookstores on November 1, 2022.
