New disappearance in the cast of Friends. After James Mickael Tyler (Gunther) died of cancer on October 24, 2021, another interpreter of a secondary character in the cult series has just disappeared. This is Michael Hagerty, who lent his features to Mr. Treeger, the grumpy janitor of Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler and Joey. Despite his bad temper, the background character, known for making Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) cry, had known how to gain importance for ten seasons, proving time and time again that he had a good background.
The death of Michael G. Hagerty, the causes of which have not yet been made public, was reported by actress Bridget Everett this Friday, May 6. The one who was his playing partner in the HBO series Somebody, Somewhere, paid tribute to him on his Instagram account: “It is with great sadness that the family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. A much-loved actor, whose love for his hometown Chicago and his family were the mainstays of his life. Mike was a devoted husband, and leaves behind his wife Mary Kathryn, his sister Mary Ann Hagerty and his wife Kathleen O ‘Rourke and their daughter Meg. He will be missed,” she wrote alongside a photo of the comedian, which shows him smiling.
Supporting roles in several major series
Originally from Chicago, Michael Hagerty leaves behind a career in supporting roles in iconic fiction such as the Seinfield series, another sitcom in which he played just before Friends, in 1994, but also Grey’s Anatomy, or even recently Brooklyn Nine- Nine. Small contributions that don’t equal Mr. Treeger in the hearts of Friends fans. The stars of the cult series have so far not reacted.
