It is not yet this year that Prince Charles will celebrate his grandson’s birthday. Thursday, May 6, the British royal family celebrates the birthday of little Archie Mountbatten who turns 2 years old. And for the occasion, the Windsors did not fail to send him tender messages, like Elizabeth II or Kate Middleton and Prince William who split a very warm statement. Even Prince Charles has not forgotten the little boy he has not seen for several months, but to whom he gave a nice wink on his birthday.
“Happy birthday to Archie who turns 2 today”, wrote the father of Prince Harry in the caption of a magnificent black and white photo, taken on the day of the baptism of the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex . In this shot, we see Meghan Markle’s husband carrying the little boy, while Prince Charles is standing by his side. For the moment, it is unclear whether the crown prince will have the opportunity to wish his grandson a happy birthday live via Zoom, as the risk of doing so for his part Elizabeth II.

Prince Charles, an “unhappy grandfather”
Since the departure of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for the United States, Prince Charles is a somewhat unhappy grandfather, he has not seen his grandson for several months now. Despite the distance, the Sussex couple regularly maintain the link with the royal family via video calls, as was the case last September when Prince Charles called his son Harry, and received the pleasant surprise of being called “pa” , diminutive of “grand-pa” (grandfather, editor’s note) by Archie. During the return of the Duke of Sussex to Great Britain, as during his last royal engagements and the funeral of Prince Philip, he had come without the little boy, who was unable to return to the United Kingdom in particular because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
