The Gabby Petito affair could find its outcome. According to information from the FBI confirmed by People, human remains were discovered this Wednesday, October 20 in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, in Florida, not far from the backpack and the computer of Brian Laundrie, wanted as part of the Gabby Petito case. During a press conference, Michael McPherson, agent of the FBI, clarified that the body was discovered on an area recently covered by water. It has not been clarified whether or not the body is that of Brian Laundrie.

In an interview with People, the Laundrie family’s lawyer, Steven Bertolino, said the young man’s backpack and computer were discovered early Wednesday. The Sarasota County Medical Examiner’s Office and a sniffer dog were then requisitioned at the scene, leading to the discovery of human remains.

The end of a hunt lasting more than a month?

23-year-old Brian Laundrie is suspected of murdering his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, who was found dead on September 19 in a remote area of ​​the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The couple had gone on a road trip through the American West the previous July 2, but Laundrie had returned home alone to his parents on September 1, before vanishing into the wild two weeks later. On September 24, an arrest warrant was issued against him, and an intensive search was launched within the Carlton Reserve, Florida. Duane Chapman, a famous American bounty hunter, had notably joined the search.
