Musa Hasahya, 67, has decided not to have any more children. Which is understandable given that he is the head of a family with his 12 wives, 102 children and 568 grandchildren. The Daily Mail explains that he decided to use contraception on his wives. The already substantial size of this large family will therefore stop there. The reason for this choice would be the cost of living. “My income has gotten lower and lower over the years due to the rising cost of living and my family has gotten bigger and bigger,” he said.
Musa Hasahya therefore wants his wives to be able to afford to buy food instead of giving birth. “I married one woman after another. How can a man be satisfied with just one woman?” reports The Sun according to Musa Hasahya’s statement. Note that this Ugandan farmer lives with his family in Lusaka, Uganda. There, polygamy is legal. This 67-year-old man also explained that all his wives lived under the same roof. This so that he can watch them and prevent them from going to see other men.
His eldest is 21 years older than his youngest wife
This decision not to have any more children was obviously well accepted in this family. “I don’t want to have any more children. I saw the bad financial situation and I am now taking the contraceptive pill,” said Zulaika, the youngest wife of Musa Hasahya with whom he had 11 children. In addition, a third of Musa Hasahya’s children also live with him on his farm. Her children range in age from 6 to 51. Mr. Hasahya’s eldest child is 21 years older than his youngest wife.
