It is a tragedy which occurred this Wednesday, September 22 in the district of Cerisaie in Fresnes, in Val-de-Marne. A two-year-old toddler died in the afternoon after falling from the window of his parents ‘apartment, located on the sixth and top floor of a workers’ home, according to the Parisian. Despite the arrival of help, the child, who was in cardiopulmonary arrest, could not be resuscitated. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the L’Haÿ-les-Roses police station.
The circumstances of the drama are still unclear, but a domestic accident could be at the origin. “Apparently, the mother had gone shopping and the father was in the kitchen when their little child fell out of the window,” said Marie Chavanon, the mayor (PS) of Fresnes.
A preventable accident?
According to a mother who lives on the same floor as the victim’s family, this accident could have been avoided: “We tell our children every day to be careful with the windows, she told our colleagues. . They are too easily accessible, even for young children. Reaching out, mine manages to touch the handle. I pointed this out to the babysitter several times. “
To help residents who so wish, the city of Fresnes has set up a psychological support unit, which will be present “as long as necessary”.
