Princess Eugenie rejoices. Last February, Prince Andrew’s daughter gave birth to her first child, a little boy named August whom she decided to baptize last July according to royal tradition. A ceremony which unfortunately had to be postponed, after one of the guests was detected as a Covid-19 contact case. To prevent the baptism of her son from becoming a cluster, Princess Eugenie therefore decided to postpone the festivities, especially since Elizabeth II, invited to the ceremony, had replied that she would be present. Something to delight his granddaughter, and for good reason.

Indeed, according to a royal source, Eugenie of York found it difficult to contain her joy when she learned that the Queen was going to honor her son August with his presence at his baptism, she who does not always attend the baptisms of his great-grandchildren. If she was present to those of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Elizabeth II had skipped that of Prince Louis because she was on the road to the return of Sandringham, but also that of Archie, the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. At the time of the intimate ceremony in Windsor Chapel, the Queen had an official engagement which she could not move. “So Eugenie was very touched that she made a commitment to see August baptized,” a source told Express.co.

Was Princess Eugenie’s son baptized?

Forced to move the baptism of her son which was to be held on July 17, it turns out that Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would have organized the ceremony on Saturday August 7, before Elizabeth II took up her summer quarters at Balmoral. It was on August 9 that the Queen arrived at her Scottish home, after attending August’s baptism, which took place in the strictest of privacy. Express.co reports that the ceremony would have taken place at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor, in the presence of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, before they too followed the Queen to Balmoral.
