The Duke of Edinburgh died peacefully on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle. A situation which led to a period of mourning of two weeks. The circumstances being, the Queen, Prince Charles as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton had to change their photos on Instagram and Tweet to black and white. After the official mourning period passed, these photos and images returned to normal except for those from Queen Elizabeth II’s Instagram account.
A new image has taken over from the one where she was seen beaming with Prince Philip in the background. This new snap is a photo of her alone taken last year during an official visit to MI5 headquarters at Thames House. This is not the only notable change as we also see a section specially designed by the team in honor of the Duke of Edinburgh.
“A nod to her late husband”
Queen Elizabeth II resumed her royal engagements yesterday. In fact, she has been seen swapping her black mourning dress for a pale blue floral dress. We clearly see a beautiful diamond brooch as an accessory to the dress. A wink that we recognize to the one who shared his life as a husband for 73 years.
This brooch is not just any one after all. This is the royal floral brooch of the Nizam of Hyderabad. There is talk of a piece of the tiara that the Queen received on her wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II celebrated their 73 years of marriage last November.
