She wishes him the best. According to The Mirror magazine, this Friday February 26, Elizabeth II had a conversation with Prince Harry during which she told him to be “delighted” to know him happy with Meghan Markle and Archie in Los Angeles. But in the process, the monarch asked him to continue “to defend the values” of the royal family of England. A subtle call to order as the Duke of Sussex prepares to participate in an interview with Oprah Winfrey?
In his surprise interview with James Corden, Prince Harry returned to the Megxit and the reasons for his departure from the British monarchy. According to him, the Anglo-Saxon press and its reproaches would have created “a difficult environment” to endure which “destroyed [his] mental health.” Meghan Markle was equally affected and expressed her own distress in October 2019. Elizabeth II was therefore faced with a painful choice: the future parents preferred to distance themselves from their royal duties before announcing that they would not would not resume service on February 19.
Fear for Prince Philip
If Elizabeth II is happy to see her grandson flourish in California, worry awaits her. On February 16, her husband Prince Philip, with whom she had been confined in Windsor for a few months, was hospitalized in London due to an infection unrelated to Covid-19. The Duke of Edinburgh is due to celebrate his 100th birthday next June and has been vaccinated against the disease with his wife. Prince Charles visited him and appeared moved as he left his father’s bedside.
