The news is not good for DMX. This Friday, April 2, the 50-year-old rapper was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack caused by an overdose. This Sunday, April 4, several of the artist’s relatives gave his news and they are not the most reassuring. As reported by People magazine, his family first said in a statement that DMX is “facing serious health problems”, while his manager Nadia Walker told the New York Times that the rapper is currently on ” in a vegetative state [with] pulmonary and cerebral insufficiency and no cerebral activity “. If since his entourage is only “praying” in the hope that the singer recovers, the fans are also invited to “kindly keep DMX in their thoughts” while being careful to respect the privacy of his family “in the face of this test”. This Monday, April 5, a prayer vigil is even organized in front of the White Plains hospital where the star is currently located.
DMX lawyer Murray Richman also wanted to reflect on the circumstances of the tragedy. He thus confirmed that his client was indeed taken to the hospital to be resuscitated and placed on respiratory assistance, following a heart attack. However, the lawyer is still unaware of the real causes of the discomfort and has not been able to confirm that it was due to a drug overdose. Note that DMX has been fighting for several years against its addictions. He went through rehab on several occasions. In 2010, he even spent time in a psychiatric hospital.
A wave of support for DMX
Since the announcement of his hospitalization, DMX has received a wave of support from many of his fellow artists and artist friends. This was the case for Eminem, Rick Ross or Eric B. His fans also wanted to show their support in various ways, even showing up in front of the hospital where he is being treated. What touched the family of Earl Simmons (real name) who sent their thanks in a statement released by TMZ: “The Simmons family appreciates the outpouring of sincere love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl “he said before adding:” Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans him give back that same passion and that same energy during difficult times. “
