During his 48-hour police custody, Youcef M., the spouse of the woman found dismembered in Buttes-Chaumont, confessed to having killed and cut her up. He also gave some details of the course of this tragic evening during which the worst happened. The one who was indicted assured that he had no intention of killing his wife Assia. The drama occurred during an argument between the couple, according to information reported by Le Parisien. The defendant, once after realizing that his wife was dead, allegedly cut her into several pieces in the kitchen of his apartment and then placed the human pieces in garbage bags.

Not being conveyed, he had then placed the garbage bags in a shopping trolley and taken the bus to go to Paris, to the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. If he chose this place, it is because he felt that it was one of the most beautiful places in the capital. “He intimately wanted Assia not to disappear (…) and that we come to arrest him,” pleaded his lawyer.

According to the lawyer of the victim’s husband, there was no violence in the couple

“My client has always disputed that he wanted to kill his wife, he found himself in a whirlwind of total amazement,” said Me Beyreuther-Minkov. According to the lawyer, “it was about a united couple, married for 26 years with three children who overcame many difficulties but in which there was no violence”. Youcef M. remains presumed innocent of the charges against him.
