“Her name was Assia. She was 46 years old.” On Wednesday February 15, the mayor of Montreuil, Patrice Bessac, announced the identification by the police of the body found dismembered in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, in Paris, on Monday February 13. Assia M.B., 46, lived with her husband and their three children in a building adjoining the Beaumonts park in Montreuil, in Seine-Saint-Denis.
A building where a wave of incomprehension reigns today. And for good reason, none of the inhabitants of the fifteen-story tower recognize the woman they are presented with today as their neighbor. “I’ve lived here for fifteen years, I’ve never seen her! Exclaims Imène in the columns of Le Parisien. He, I know him but she, we’ve never seen her. He’s used to to take care of his children. He goes out early in the morning. He is a very discreet man. We sometimes bump into each other in the elevator. They didn’t live together!” Same story with other neighbors, flabbergasted to learn that the woman presented on television lived a few steps from their home. “What, she lived here!”, a neighbor wonders. “The lady cut into pieces, is it here?” Adds a retiree.
The dismembered body in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is indeed that of Assia, a 46-year-old mother who disappeared in Montreuil in early February➡️ https://t.co/27aDl03hd5 pic.twitter.com/FsQKYEerrR

Testimonials that raise questions
Among all the residents interviewed by our colleagues, only a neighbor remembers having already met Assia. “Yes, she’s a little lady, she says. I met her with her children. But without her husband.” If it is not always easy to know the faces of all your neighbors, these testimonies raise questions about the atmosphere that reigned in the couple. Did Assia really live with her husband, or did she only come to the building occasionally to take care of the children? For now, the mystery remains, but the husband of the victim, who had reported her disappearance to the police on February 6, is now one of the suspects.
