Would the Maddie McCann case finally go towards its resolution? It’s possible. This Tuesday, May 23, 2023, new excavations began in Portugal to try to find the body of the girl, who disappeared on May 3, 2007 while spending her holidays in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve. The search perimeter was defined around the Arade dam reservoir, located about fifty kilometers from the place of disappearance, on the advice of a German informant deemed “very credible” by the investigators.
According to a source close to the investigation, the investigators would be in particular looking for a very specific object: the pink pajamas that Maddie wore the night of her abduction. As a reminder, the little Briton was sleeping in apartment 5A of the Ocean Club hotel complex when she was torn from her bed. “This research is being done very seriously and is entirely carried out by the Germans, specifies the source to the British tabloid The Sun. They asked the Portuguese to help them look for evidence – but above all for pieces of fabric.”
The Arade dam reservoir often frequented by Christian Brueckner
According to the Daily Mirror, the reservoir of Arade dam would be a place frequented several times by the repeat pedophile Christian Brueckner, now considered the main suspect in the McCann case. Currently incarcerated in Oldenburg (Germany) for the rape of a 72-year-old American in 2005, also in the Algarve, Brueckner was in the region at the time of Maddie’s disappearance. According to his girlfriend at the time, he was absent on the eve of the drama and said: “I have something to do in Praia da Luz tomorrow. It’s something horrible but I have to do it and that going to change my life. You won’t see me for a while.” For now, Brueckner denies any involvement in the disappearance of the little Briton.
