What happened to Maddy McCann during her family vacation in Portugal thirteen years ago? This is what the German investigators working on this case are trying to understand. In recent months, the investigation has been largely revived by the discovery of a new German suspect. This is Christian Brueckner, a 43-year-old man convicted of child pornography and rape, who is currently serving a drug sentence in Germany. If he is one of the new suspects, it is because he lived near the seaside resort of Praia da Luz, in Portugal, when the little Briton disappeared in 2007. However, the numerous hearings of the man did not have given nothing. He denies the charges outright and his lawyer, Friedrich Fuelscher, claims his client is innocent.
To be sure, German investigators are preparing to head for Portugal and the area where Maddie McCann has disappeared. The objectives are precise: to find new clues and new leads that may contradict the version of the main suspect. According to sources familiar with the matter, cited by the Mirror, the investigators are expected to leave Germany just after the New Year.
For German investigators, there are too many unanswered questions
“German officers believe there are areas of the investigation into [Christian B] and his time in Portugal that would benefit from going into the field. Specifically, there are unanswered questions about [Christian’s movements B] in the days and weeks after [Madeleine] ‘s disappearance, “a source explained. The investigators are also counting on certain witnesses, still living in Portugal, who could have key information on this case. For its part, the family of the little girl does not lose hope of one day recovering the body of the girl and of finally knowing the whole truth about her disappearance.
