Fifteen years have passed since the disappearance of Maddie McCann on May 3, 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal. However, the police responsible for investigating the case are not giving up, quite the contrary. According to The Sun, German investigators would like to charge Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the case of the girl’s disappearance, by Christmas. What to serve as a beautiful Christmas present for Kate and Gerry McCann, the parents of Maddie, who have been looking for their daughter hard for many, many years.
Incarcerated in Germany for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman in the Algarve in 2005, Brueckner lived in the Praia da Luz region at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance. In April 2007, just a few weeks before the girl vanished, the man allegedly even assaulted a 10-year-old German girl on a beach in Salema, about ten kilometers from Praia da Luz. According to The Sun, he would have forced the girl to watch him in the middle of a sexual act, while he was wearing only a pair of shoes.
What charges weigh on Christian Brueckner?
For his part, Christian Brueckner denies any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. However, many elements accuse him. In 2020, during the search of his German home, investigators found six USB keys in his home containing around 8,000 photos and videos of child pornography. Many children’s clothes were also seized from the apartment, although Brueckner never had any. In addition, according to his girlfriend at the time, the 43-year-old man would have been absent the night before the disappearance of Madeleine. He then allegedly said: “I have something to do in Praia da Luz tomorrow. It’s something horrible but I have to do it and it’s going to change my life. You won’t see me for a while.” Will Christian Brueckner end up being guilty of the most publicized disappearance case of this century? The mystery still remains.
