The investigation into the disappearance of Héléna Cluyou continues. According to information from Le Parisien, the home of the main suspect, Sylvain L., 36, was searched a second time on Tuesday, February 7. Authorities said they seized several items belonging to the suspect, including numerous items of clothing, which could help them advance the investigation. The scientific police indeed hope to find there possible traces of DNA belonging to Héléna, which would prove that the young nurse crossed the road of the thirty-something.
If the investigators are so interested in the profile of Sylvain L., it is because the behavior of the young man exudes guilt. After Héléna disappeared on January 29 in Brest (Finistère), the 30-year-old got rid of his car, a gray Kia, which was found burned down the next morning. Subsequently, Sylvain L. tried to end his life twice; a first time at his home, by taking medication, then a second time in the hospital, by asphyxiation. In the meantime, he would have made the beginnings of a confession to his brother and his sister-in-law.
“It was an accident,” the suspect reportedly said
As a reminder, Héléna Cluyou disappeared in the early morning of January 29, 2023 at the exit of a nightclub in Brest, in Finistère. Filmed by a surveillance camera at 6:42 a.m. near the Mac-Orlan tram station, the young woman vanished shortly after as she approached her home. The investigators are studying the possibility that she got into a car but do not exclude the thesis of the accident. And for good reason, the suspect himself indicated on Friday, after taking massive medication, that he had done “something stupid” and that “it was an accident”. For now, his state of health does not allow the police to question him.
