Born on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee (United States), the interpreter of What’s Love got to do with it had abandoned her American nationality in 2013 to be naturalized Swiss and had learned German. “I feel at home here. I couldn’t imagine a better place to live,” she explained of her new country. Wishing to move away from the United States because of her celebrity, Tina Turner had chosen Switzerland as a place of retirement, with her husband Erwin Bach.

Their marriage had also been celebrated in 2013, on the shores of Lake Zurich. Eight years later, the couple had decided to buy a large estate, located in the town of Stäfa, on the shores of Lake Zurich.
The $76 million estate had been purchased by Afida Turner’s mother-in-law after the pandemic. Extending over 24,000 square meters, it included no less than ten buildings, a pond, a stream, a swimming pool and a pier. “With this property, we have found a new weekend retreat, close to home” had also confided Erwin Bach. A quiet place that allowed the singer to spend the last years of her life away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
