In mid-February, the Duke of Edinburgh had been hospitalized for a month at the King Edward VII’Hospital, in London. He had undergone a successful operation in early March for a heart problem. Less than a month ago, Charles’s father, Anne, Andrew and Edward, had therefore been able to return home to continue his convalescence.
The announcement of Prince Philip’s death was made via the Royal Family’s Twitter account. The official statement read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at the castle of Windsor “. For the moment, it is not yet known when the funeral will take place, but the course of which seems to have already been carefully planned. Prince Harry will return to Britain on this sad occasion after more than a year away from his family.
