After the death of his mother on September 8, 2022, Prince Charles inherits the British Crown.
The property that belonged to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England was distributed according to very specific protocols.
Nothing would be decided yet regarding the clothes of Queen Elizabeth II.

The distribution of the immense legacy left by Queen Elizabeth II of England after her death remains a mystery. We know that what belongs to the Crown is relegated to the new monarch, namely Charles III, 73 years old. Elizabeth II, who died at age 96 on September 8, 2022, owned many personal assets. Indeed, Queen Elizabeth II of England owned magnificent residences, a collection of jewelry and works of art, corgis among others… and a huge wardrobe. The vast majority of the assets left by Her Majesty after her death will be distributed according to her will.

Nobody knows until now the contents of this will. On the other hand, maybe we will never know considering the fact that the royal family is not bound by the obligation to disclose it. Very specific protocols have been put in place for the redistribution of part of the inheritance left by the grandmother of princes William and Harry. On the other hand, no protocol would be provided for the clothes “as colorful as they are elegant of the queen”, reports ELLE magazine. Quoted by ELLE, author Brian Hoey gives a potential lead on the future of the impressive wardrobe of the deceased Queen.

Death of Elizabeth II: her clothes would go to women who are close to her

Brian Hoey, author of Not In Front of the Corgis, reveals that Queen Elizabeth II regularly donated her old clothes to her dressers. According to him, the queen’s dressers had several options regarding the future of these clothes. They could keep them as souvenirs or wear them. They could also decide to sell them. But for this last option, they cannot mention that the clothes had belonged to Queen Elizabeth II of England.
