During the Harry Potter 20th anniversary special, to be broadcast on Salto on Sunday 2 January 2022, Daniel Radcliffe confessed to having a crush on one of his much older acting partners.
As the historic portrayer of Harry Potter in the saga of the same name, actor Daniel Radcliffe has tried to move away from the role that made him a global star in the 2000s. Since the end of the film franchise, the actor has taken on one big screen role after another, playing a wide range of characters quite different from the young wizard imagined by J.K Rowling. Despite this, Daniel Radcliffe was present to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the saga with the rest of the cast, during a special show that will be broadcast on Saturday 1 January 2022 on the HBO Max platform in the United States.
In an excerpt posted online on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, Daniel Radcliffe confided a few things. The actor revealed in particular that he had a little crush on one of his acting partners in the Harry Potter saga. If Emma Watson, who played the character of Hermoine Granger, has already admitted that she fell in love with Tom Felton, who played the role of Draco Malfoy, Daniel Radcliffe fell in love with an actress much older than him. While his character ended up starting a family with Ginny Weasley in the conclusion of the franchise, Harry Potter’s interpreter had an unlikely crush on Helena Bonham Carter, 23 years his senior.
Daniel Radcliffe: the day he sent a love note to Helena Bonham Carter
For the record, the actress played the role of the antagonist Bellatrix Lestrange in the film saga adapted from J.K Rowling’s books. Off camera, the two actors were very close, despite their significant age difference. Daniel Radcliffe was obviously very attracted to his acting partner, who was still in a relationship with director Tim Burton at the time, and he even sent her a little note in 2011, which he unveiled during the special celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter. “Dear Helena Bonham-Carter it has been a pleasure to be your partner and undercup in that I always ended up holding your coffee. I love you and wish I had been born ten years earlier, so maybe I would have had a chance,” he wrote, though he did not say whether Helena Bonham Carter had written him back or not.
