A few hours before the qualifying match between Portugal and North Macedonia, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to journalists during a press conference. The famous football player did not hide his anger in the face of an increasingly insistent question concerning his future and his probable retirement. “I’m starting to see that a lot of you are starting to ask me the same question,” he began before continuing rather annoyed. “The one who will decide my future is me, no one else. If I want to play, I will play. If I don’t want to, I won’t play. I’m in charge, period final.”

At 37, many are wondering when Cristiano Ronaldo will retire from international duty with Portugal. In the meantime, he intends to do everything to qualify his country for the next World Cup to be held in Qatar. “It’s a final and we’re ready. If we’re favourites? I don’t quite understand that, but I still consider myself a favourite. Macedonia surprised and did it in many games, but I think that tomorrow it will not surprise us. Portugal will be better and we will go to the World Cup.”
