The case between Cristiano Ronaldo and Kathryn Mayorga has just experienced a new twist. The former model, who accused the footballer of raping her in 2009, has just filed new court documents. In these, revealed by The Mirror, she demands a huge sum of money from the Juventus striker from Turin for damages and interest. In all, she claims 65 million euros (more or less two years’ salary for the footballer): more than 20 million for “past suffering”, more than 20 million for “future suffering” and the rest as damages -punitive interests. The additional millions would be used to cover the legal costs incurred since the start of the legal battle between the two.
As a reminder, in 2009 the former model accused Cristiano Ronaldo of having raped her during a party in Las Vegas. According to her, the two would have met in the VIP area of a nightclub in the American city and the footballer would have offered to share his jacuzzi, in his hotel room. While she was changing, he allegedly sexually assaulted her. If Cristiano Ronaldo has always denied the facts, he agreed to pay more than $ 300,000 to his alleged victim to close the case. Since 2018, Kathryn Mayorga has been trying to invalidate this decision, ensuring that at the time of the signing, she was not in her normal state.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not be prosecuted
His lawyers then claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s clan had violated the confidentiality agreement by allowing the publication of reports in 2017. In July 2019, a judge announced that the footballer would not be prosecuted for lack of evidence. “According to a review of the information presented, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. Therefore, no charges will be forthcoming. . ” A few months ago, the investigation was reopened and new evidence such as a DNA test or emails were added to the file.
