The muscular chase, which should have been stopped, ends badly by collapsing an old abandoned restaurant and killing a poor pedestrian in his fifties. On February 8, 2023, Shawn Lee Brunson, 33, drives a 2017 Hyundai Sonata, a car stolen the day before. Launching his car at full speed on a portion of the avenue while fleeing the police who were in pursuit, he mowed down a car at an intersection and ended his mad dash at the foot of an old brick building. The abandoned brick building has collapsed.

The bricks buried the stolen car, with Shawn Lee Brunson and two other people in it. He also hits another car and Alfred Fincher, an innocent pedestrian passing by. The 54-year-old is not seen very well in the video shared by the Independent Investigations Division of the Attorney General’s Office. On the other hand, we can clearly see how the car stolen and driven by Shawn Lee Brunson hits a red car. The latter spins and is thrown in the direction of the old brick building.

The pursuit had to be stopped

The horrific crash left one dead and seriously injured five others, two of whom were with Shawn Lee Brunson in the 2017 Hyundai Sonata. Footage shared by the prosecutor’s office reveals an officer was ordered to terminate the his pursuit shortly before the terrible accident occurred, reveals the Daily Mail. Dayna Waheedah, a woman who knew Alfred Fincher, the 54-year-old pedestrian victim killed in the crash, said the building that came down was a restaurant called Norhstar. “I have lived in this community for 7 and a half years, and the building was on the verge of collapse for the past 15 years; it should have been demolished many years ago,” she said.
