Chadwick Boseman was also nominated for Best Actor for his role in the Netflix film The Blues of Ma Rainey, which is his last screen appearance. While he also starred in the Manhattan Lockdown and Get on Up films, his best-known role is largely still that of the Black Panther superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He played Black Panther in four films, including one entirely dedicated to his character in 2018, which achieved huge public critical acclaim and won three Oscars. The Marvel president has previously announced that in order to respect his memory, the role of Black Panther will not be assigned to another actor and that Chadwick Boseman will not be digitally recreated for the purposes of the film.
