A grueling trial. On Wednesday, June 1, the jury delivered its verdict in the case between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. The American actress was found guilty of defamation and was ordered to pay more than 10 million dollars in damages to her ex-husband. A victory for the latter who can thank his lawyer, Camille Vasquez, who struggled to win. This verdict is all the more important as it allowed the 37-year-old to be elevated to the rank of partner by the firm Brown Rudnick, which she joined in 2018, as revealed by CEO William Baldiga in a press release published this Tuesday, June 7.
But to achieve this result, Camille Vasquez had to put in a lot of effort. As she told People, she and her team were working almost around the clock on the case. “After the court, we went back to the hotel where we lived and which was our little nest. We changed clothes. We ate. Then we had two crisis cells where we were until sometimes 5 a.m. the next day. It was very intense“, she explained to the american media.

Camille Vasquez also confiscated that she never went to bed before 1 or 2 a.m., while her team stayed up until past 5 a.m. “We were really out of breath,” admitted the lawyer, insisting that this victory was not just hers, but also that of all those who helped her during these many weeks: “It I was the one who conducted the cross-examination, but I was very clear: it was not my cross-examination. It was that of our team.”
Regarding Johnny Depp, Camille Vasquez explained that the actor was “at peace”. “I think that peace came even before the verdict. It was just being able to tell his story and talk about what really happened in that relationship. I think once he was able to doing it and exposing everything, the good, the bad, the ugly, he felt a sense of relief, and he deserves it,” concluded the lawyer.
